Dash the Dragonfly

Favorite: Fish

BFF: Lolli the Ladybug

Hometown: Everglades National Park Miami, Florida

Favorite little twig product: Extra Mild Unscented Sunscreen

Job: Mascot for little twig.  I help promote little twig’s commitment to nurture families organically. You can find me on little twig’s Sunscreen!

Bio:  I lived for two years as a nymph underwater but now I am out of the water and using my wings to fly!  My wings sparkle and reflect light.  I can fly in all directions; I can even fly backwards.  When I fly around I like to watch the fish below me.

Cause:  I am concerned about water pollution because I grew up underwater.  Did you know that water covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface?  When harmful substances such as oil or industrial waste are dumped into oceans, ponds and rivers the water becomes polluted.

What can you do to help?  You can help to conserve water by not leaving the sink running while you brush your teeth.  You can also make sure that you and your friends do not put garbage into lakes, streams or the ocean.  Trash belongs in a garbage can.

Activities: Watching fish, Flying

Interests: Water Conservation, Water Purification

Kids at the Beach: Don’t Forget the Sunscreen!

August 16th, 2010

A Survival Guide
A day at the beach is a fun and exciting time! If you take a few minutes to properly pack you can spend more time relaxing and less time worrying about your little ones.

Sunscreen

We recommend you apply little twig’s Extra Mild Unscented Sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before sun exposure.  Ask a doctor before use on children under six months of age.  Our sunscreen will help to prevent your little ones from burning! Make sure to reapply after swimming and towel drying.

Jennifer Steuart, a fan of little twig says, “this is the most excellent sunscreen. my fair redheaded baby never burned. it wasn’t greasy and lasted through swimming. absolutely a great product.”

Don’t forget our kids sunscreen sale, 25% off now through August 31st at www.littletwig.com!

Fluids
You want to keep you family hydrated while out in the sun so be sure to prevent dehydration by bringing plenty of water, formula or juice boxes.  If you are breastfeeding it is particularly important that you drink extra water.

Umbrellas
Even if your baby is wearing sunscreen, keep them out of the sun as much as possible. Beach umbrellas help to protect baby’s sensitive skin from direct sun.

Baby Powder
We suggest bringing little twig’s Extra Mild Baby Powder to the beach as well.

little twig mommy Annie Bowles Angelo says it is, “The best thing for getting sand off the baby – and the whole family, for that matter!”

Limits on Time & Temperature
Try to limit your time at the beach and pick a day that with a mild temperature.  Dr. Joan Liebmann-Smith advises that, “Babies’ temperature-regulating systems aren’t fully developed; they have fewer sweat glands than adults, so they sweat less. As a result, they’re not as efficient as adults in keeping cool.”

If you take these tips with you to the beach you should have a great time!  Please upload pictures of you beach-ready little twiggies on our facebook page, we love to see their smiling faces.
